VERY PROMISING YEAR. GOOD CONCENTRATION. A VINTAGE TO LAY DOWN.
A season that experienced some difficulties with the weather
Fairly warm winter with lower temperatures in February and March. April was hit by hail and frost causing significant damage in certain parts of Bourgogne. Violent thunderstorms continued in May. July heralded the return of the warm weather with a little dryness and the rest of the summer was hot and dry.
Bud break: mid-bud break mid-April Flowering: mid-June Veraison: began mid-August
Grape harvest from mid-September to mid-October.
This was one of the smallest years in terms of volume on the Côte d'Or and some appellations had to deal with a significant drop in quantity but high quality nonetheless!
White wines: good tension typical of Bourgogne, aromatic palette Red wines: intense colours, fresh mouth, soft, good depth.
Chablis area
The winter was mild and wet with the late arrival of cold temperatures in February and March. The very humid atmospheric conditions caused significant damage in Chablis during the episode of frost at the end of April. A lot of disruption during the rest of spring and normal temperatures for the season. Arrival of the fine weather in July and high temperatures the rest of the summer.
Grape harvest at the end of September
Fairly classical vintage with tension and good balance
White wines: quality wines, good aromatic expression, soft harmonious mouth, excellent freshness and minerality. Very fine vintage for Chablis.
Côte de Nuits
A somewhat damp and late winter with cold temperatures appearing in February and March. The start of spring was rather mild with the usual amount of rain and a drop in temperature in April. At the end of April, an episode of frost had serious consequences across the Côte d'Or. The rest of spring and the start of summer were punctuated by cooler temperatures than normal, causing a lot of disruption and a few episodes of hail. The weather more pleasant in July, with temperatures much higher the rest of the summer leading to a lack of water in September.
Start of the grape harvest at the end of September
White wines: expressive and fresh, balanced, elegant with a nice intensity. Full mouth, harmonious, fleshy and good length. Red wines: soft tannins, round, very open nose, elegant, aromatic richness

Beaujolais
The capricious weather was a bit of a headache for winemakers
The season was relatively wet.

Devastating thunderstorms at the start of the summer, in spite of a rise in temperatures. July was hot and sunny, though there was a lot of rain, whilst August turned out very dry.
A relatively late vintage in comparison with previous years.
