The climate has a continental influence: hot summers and dry autumns allow the grapes to ripen in ideal conditions. These climatic conditions encourage the development of sugars and the substances that give the grapes their colour.
Unique characteristics
Four nuances of Savigny-les-Beaune Premier Cru
What makes the Domaine Maurice Ecard so special is that it is one of the few to possess a vineyard that extends over four Premier Cru AOPs, from different climats (Aux Clous, Les Narbantons, Les Peuillets, Les Serpentières). Some of them are among the most renowned. This diversity within the estate provides a perfect illustration of the richness of the terroirs of Bourgogne. It enables us to offer a selection of styles to satisfy the palettes of all Bourgogne wine lovers.
History
To the north of the Côte de Beaune, the Domaine Maurice Ecard is one of the oldest in Savigny-lès-Beaune: it was around in the days of the French Revolution in 1789. Maurice Ecard, its founder, is considered to be the father of this appellation and his estate is a leader in the Savigny appellation.
A Word from the Oenologist
"Each of the climats will give us wines with very different styles. For example, the Savigny-Lès-Beaune Premier Cru "Les Peuillets" produces a wine that encourages the expression of the fruit while the Premier Cru "Les Narbantons" opens more softly to express its potential, thus making it an excellent wine for laying down."
